Feeling Blocked From Living Fully and Deeply?
We are living in a time when anxiety, fear, sadness and loneliness has a grip on many of us. Despair and grief over the state of the world is something many of us are experiencing as well.
If this is your experience then it can be of great value to meet with someone who can listen deeply. I will help create the space for self-reflection, learning and strengthening of our true self. This is important for engaging in the challenges and opportunities of this time.
Life stories, movement, art, rituals, stillness, prayer, and connecting to our bodies and nature are elements I may introduce in our sessions, depending on the individual need.
I invite you to make an appointment to sense whether I may be able to meet your needs. If you would like to continue meeting we will make a plan for the number and frequency of sessions.
Finding Your Rudder in Troubled Times
I have particular experience in working with individuals and families experiencing illness, dying and death.
During times of illness, we can be confronted with overwhelming physical and emotional demands -- and the need to make treatment decisions, weigh many factors, and balance the needs of loved ones. This was certainly the case for me, when I received a cancer diagnosis some years ago.
With long-term illness, we may be confronted with questions such as "Who am I now?" and "Why did this happen?"
Caregiver burnout, confusing emotions, and complex family dynamics can all accompany this time of life.
When facing a serious or terminal diagnosis, it is valuable to explore how we can live and meet our dying time. Preparation and awareness can bring many gifts to this threshold.
Some people are exploring options on how to provide a continuum of care and connection for our loved ones at the time of death and the days thereafter. Please enquire with me if you would like more information.
Grief is a normal and natural response to loss or death. Learning how to express and live with grief is not something that we have often been taught or shown. Speaking about our conflicting feelings and emotions is an important part of the grief journey. Please reach out for help along the way.
My book, "A Call to the Far Shore: Caring for Our Loved Ones Though Dying, Death and Beyond ," will be published by Inner Traditions in the Fall of 2024.
My Approach/Background
For healing to occur, we seek balance and wholeness within ourselves, among each other, and for the sake of the Earth.
Healing happens through inviting our many aspects to the table of healing: our family and cultural backgrounds; life experiences and values; our bodies, dreams and visions. We are not isolated human beings – nature, soul and spirit permeates the whole world, and we are all in constant creating with these elements both within and without.
I am a long-time student of Dr. Robert Sardello, pioneering depth psychologist, writer, and founder of Integral Spiritual Psychology.
As a co-founder of Mulberry Waldorf School, for 18 years I dedicated my time to bringing this inspiring academic, artistically rich, and healing education to children in the Kingston area.
It was a privilege to work for over 5 years as a Spiritual Health Practitioner and Registered Psychotherapist at Kingston General Hospital in acute, chronic, and palliative care.
Along with being an Adult Educator M.Ed., Registered Psychotherapist, and former Certified Spiritual Health Care Practitioner (CASC), I am a member with the Canadian Counsellors and Psychotherapists Association (CCPA)
My approach is influenced by a number of modalities:
Trauma Informed Therapy
Narrative and Attachment Therapy
Embodied Mindfulness-Based Approaches
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Eye Movement Technique (EMT)
Polyvagal and Somatic Theory
Internal Family Systems
Jungian Foundations
